Jai Winter shares dark track ‘BACKROADS’
Jai Winter, the moniker of Philadelphia rapper, singer and songwriter Jerrell Taylor, has made waves since his debut. He’s amassed hundreds of thousands of streams and built a reputation for his creative abilities. Recently, he dropped ‘BACKROADS’, a single to round out 2024.
With dark synths, ethereal undertones and colourful production, the instrumentation is a driving force for the new track, balancing plucky melodies with distant, decaying pads.
The drums and Jai enter with impact; the trap arrangement matched with R&B sentiment, the perfect combination for something that oozes late-night listening.
“I wrote this song about the struggles one faces in life and the peace that can be found through faith and perseverance,” Jai shares. “The phrase “backroads” symbolizes a long conventional path to achieving one’s goals, suggesting that, while the journey may be long & challenging, it can lead to a fulfilling and meaningful existence.”
